Here is a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have about the postchronicle.net Message Board.
Welcome to postchronicle.net The postchronicle.net Message Board is not password protected at this time. At some point we may or may not opt for a members only enviroment. If the boards stay fairly noise-free, we will not shut down the board to members-only. So we ask that you follow these simple rules to allow us to keep this forum open to all that may want to post. It then becomes a simple matter to track down the host where the IP address originated, contact the company, tell them that they can either work with us to stop the illegal activity or be presented with a subpoena to appear in court with their records. In short, the legal mumbo jumbo declares it illegal for someone to threaten another:"whoever uses a telecomunications device (PC and network or modem) to knowingly make any comment which is indecent with the intent to threaten or harass another person shall be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than two years, or both." SEC. 502. OBSCENE OR HARASSING USE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONSFACILITIES UNDER THE COMMUNICATIONS ACT OF 1934.Section 223 (47 U.S.C. 223) is amended--(1) by striking subsection (a) and inserting in lieu thereof:``(a) Whoever--``(1) in interstate or foreign communications--``(A) by means of a telecommunications device knowingly--``(i) makes, creates, or solicits, and``(ii) initiates the transmission of,any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communicationwhich is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, or indecent, with intent to annoy, abuse,threaten, or harass another person;``(B) by means of a telecommunications device knowingly--``(i) makes, creates, or solicits, and``(ii) initiates the transmission of,any comment, request, suggestion, proposal, image, or other communicationwhich is obscene or indecent,regardless of whether the maker of such communicationplaced the call or initiated the communication;``(C) makes a telephone call or utilizes a telecommunications device,whether or not conversation or communication ensues, without disclosing hisidentity and with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten, or harass any person at thecalled number or who receives the communications;``(D) makes or causes the telephone of another repeatedly or continuouslyto ring, with intent to harass any person at the called number; or``(E) makes repeated telephone calls or repeatedly initiates communicationwith a telecommunications device, during which conversation or communication ensues, solely to harass any person at the called number or who receives thecommunication; or``(2) knowingly permits any telecommunications facility under his control to beused for any activity prohibited by paragraph (1) with the intent that it be used for suchactivity,shall be fined under title 18, United States Code, or imprisoned not more than two years, orboth.''
Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts? No. You can not use HTML tags in any field except the field provided. If you use them in other fields, the script will just throw out everything in <>'s. Howvever, we have provided a way for you to utilize some of the features of HTML see this link
Probably because your browser did not reload the page; rather, it simply pulled it out of cache. Hit your browser's Reload button and it should then appear.
Can I edit a message once it's posted? No, but messages can be deleted. You must enter a password on the Post a New Message page in the space provided at the bottom, before you actually post your message. After your message has been posted, you can delete it by accessing the message, then by entering your password in the appropriate box. Remember, passwords are case sensitive.
How does the formatting choice work? In the past you had to check the box marked, If you want your formatting (spaces, etc.) retained, check this box. This feature no longer works the way it did before... see The New Features Legend This comes in handy if you want to include stat tables in your post. It's always a good idea to preview your messages before posting, especially when using this or any "special" feature.
If there are images on the board, such as player photos, they are posted in GIF or JPEG formats. Most browsers such as IE, Netscape, and Opera are programmed to view these images. Check your computer's control panel/internet options/advanced settings to see if image viewing is enabled.
Can I post images or links to other webpages? Yes, as long as it's not a link to another forum or site with competing forums (see above). Links to other webpages, such as news articles may be included within the actual text of your message, or if you prefer, entered in the Optional Link URL box on the Post a New Message page. URL's to images can be entered in the Optional Image URL box located on the same page as well.
Can I change the way messages are viewed, or set the number of messages displayed? Your preferences for the manner in which you wish the messages in the index to be displayed may be set in the Set Preferences page. The link to this page is located just above the Navbar which is just above the actual message index.
How come my preferences changed since my last visit? Your preferences will be remembered if your browser is set to accept cookies. Check your computer's control panel/internet options/advanced settings to see if cookies are being accepted.
What does the "Notice to abusers and spammers. . ." message mean? No one likes to read gratuitous profanity, personal attacks, or spam. This is simply a notice to warn abusers and spammers that IP numbers and ISP's (Internet Service Providers) are trackable, and is meant to deter such actions from our site.
What if I have a question not covered by this FAQ page? Your Board Administrator will be more than happy to answer any question that helps you to enjoy our site. They can be reached by clicking on their name, where it says Current Admin at the top of each board, which links to their e-mail box. If you have a specific question for the Webmaster, an e-mail link can be located at the bottom of every page. You will recieve a reply in a timely fashion.
